Boards and Commissions

 

 

 

Planning Commission

 

The purpose of the Planning Commission is to advise the City Council on development in the community

and make a formal recommendation on infrastructure improvements and planning and zoning issues in the city. 

General comments and questions related to planning and zoning issues in the city.

 

Members of the Planning Commission are responsible for assisting city staff with the

administration and enforcement

of the city's comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance, and land use policies. 

Overall decision-making by the Planning Commission

 is based on whether the project is working toward the betterment of the city and it's vision statement.

 

Planning Commission meetings are usually held the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.

in the Council Chambers at The Hokah Fire Department.

However, scheduled meetings may be cancelled if there is a lack of business.

Members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the City Council for a three-year term.

Recreation Board

 

The purpose of the Recreation Board is to oversee the daily operations of the city recreation activities

and advise the City Council.

Hokah offers various Summer and Winter recreation programs.

Some of the programs and events are softball, tee-ball, gymnastics, swimming pool, ice rink, etc.

 

Recreation Board meetings are usually held the fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

in the Council Chambers at City Hall. 

Members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the City Council for a three-year term.

 Library Board

 

The purpose of the Public Library Board is to approve expenditures of money collected for and c

ontained within the library fund, as it relates to operations of the library building and grounds.

Public Library Board meetings are usually held the third Tuesdayof the month at the Hokah Public Library at 6:30 p.m. 

In addition to monthly meetings, members must be willing to commit additional time,

as necessary, to fulfill committee assignments.

Members of the Public Library Board are appointed by the City Council for a three-year term. 

General questions and comments related to the library may be directed to

Library Director Barb Bissen at 507-894-2665.

yearly basis by the Mayor usually on the first meeting of each new year.
